Are you looking for an easy cookie recipe for Christmas? Take these Magic Bars to a family gathering or Christmas Party and you will always be asked to bring these every time.
The combination of milk chocolate chips, nuts, coconut and condensed milk melts in your mouth. They are simply delicious!
Ingredients
- 2 cups graham crumbs
- ¾ cups melted butter
- 1 can Eagle Brand Condensed Milk (regular fat)
- 1 ⅓ cups of milk chocolate chips (I use full sized chocolate chips)
- 1 ⅓ cups of chopped nuts (I use a combination of pecans and walnuts)
- 1 ⅓ cups of shredded coconut (I use sweetened coconut)
Check out this YouTube short to see exactly how I make these Magic Bars. Visuals are always helpful.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Place a piece of parchment paper in a 9×13 inch baking pan. I use a glass dish.
- Combine melted butter and graham crumbs and press evenly into the bottom of your baking dish.
- Pour the condensed milk over the graham crumb mixture. I use the back of a spoon to help spread the condensed milk so it covers the crumbs.
- Next add chocolate chips, followed by coconut and top with nuts. Once your layers are complete, use your hand to press firmly all around your dish. This will help your squares stick together. *TIP – The measurements are an approximate amount for the chocolate chips, nuts and coconut. I tend to add a few more nuts and chocolate chips to my pan so the entire pan is covered.
- Bake at 325 degrees F (if using a glass dish or 350 degrees F if using a metal pan) for 25-30 minutes. The top will appear lightly browned. Be certain to allow the Magic Bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Do Magic Bars need to be refrigerated after baking?
Magic Bars don’t need to be stored in the refrigerator. Be certain to store them in either an airtight container or cover with a piece of plastic wrap if leaving them on the counter. I prefer to store our Magic Bars in the refrigerator or freezer so I am sure they stay fresh.
Can you freeze Magic Bars?
If you hate trying to prepare things at the last minute, this recipe is PERFECT for you. You can make these Magic Bars ahead of time and freeze them until you need them. No one will ever know! I always make an extra pan and freeze them so I have lots on hand at Christmas time.
If you are planning to freeze these squares, allow the Magic Bars to cool completely, cut them into squares and freeze them in a resealable freezer bag. The only problem with freezing them is they are just as yummy frozen. Make sure you hide them in your freezer or they may be gone before you know it.
